Head Position Analysis

Why is Head Position
Most Important?

Cervical Spine → TMJ → Face → Brain Health

The head is not just a structure resting on top, but the central axis of the cervical spine, TMJ, and cerebral blood flow.
When Forward Head Posture occurs, the 1st and 2nd cervical vertebrae (Atlas and Axis), the foundation of the neck, become twisted, causing the following problems simultaneously.

This is why corrections that focus only on specific parts will never solve the problem.

Importance of Head Position

MECHANISM

The Scientific Principle of How
FHP Ruins the Face

Principle of Facial Asymmetry
PART A

Science of FHP and TMJ

When the head moves forward, cervical alignment collapses, and the upper cervical spine (Atlas/Axis) rotates automatically.
This rotation distorts the central axis of the TMJ, causing the jaw to become fixed in a tilted position.
As a result, symptoms such as TMJ pain, clicking sounds, and deviation when opening the mouth occur.

PART B

FHP and Facial Asymmetry

When the central axis of the TMJ is distorted, the balance of facial fascia and bones also collapses.
One-sided chewing muscles, temporal muscles, and masseter muscles become hypertonic while the opposite side weakens, making facial asymmetry progressively worse.
Differences in the height of cheekbones, cheeks, jawline, and mouth corners occur, or the entire face and body may appear tilted in photos.

PART C

FHP and Brain Health: Dementia Risk Posture

Forward head posture goes beyond simple musculoskeletal issues, directly affecting cerebral blood flow, cerebrospinal fluid, and autonomic nervous system function.
It is a dangerous posture that blocks both the 'entrance' and 'exit' to the brain.

01 Flow

Reduced Brain Blood Flow

Vertebral artery kinking and decreased oxygen/glucose supply

02 Drainage

Impaired Brain Waste Drainage

Internal jugular vein compression and increased intracranial pressure decrease drainage of toxins

03 Circulation

Decreased CSF Circulation

Twisting of C1 and C2 vertebrae blocks CSF flow, causing pressure imbalance

04 Nerve

Brain Wave Changes & Emotional Distress

Anxiety, sensitivity, and autonomic system collapse due to brain wave changes

05 Risk

Increased Dementia Risk

Potential cognitive decline due to hippocampal atrophy and DMN dysfunction

Head & Neck Balance Clinic

Ulfit Treatment Philosophy: 5-Axis

This is a fundamental correction that not only straightens the neck but also restores the head, cervical spine, TMJ, face, and brain functions together.

Treatment Process

Integrated 4-Step System

Precise Diagnosis

STEP 01

Precise Diagnosis

• Whole-body/side posture analysis / C-curve and cervical lordosis measurement
• Evaluation of 1st and 2nd cervical rotation and lateral flexion
• Scan of TMJ function, opening trajectory, and facial symmetry
• Interview on cerebral blood flow and autonomic nervous system patterns

Plan Design

STEP 02

Customized Correction Plan Design

• Head position correction and restoration of upper cervical alignment
• Realignment of TMJ balance and adjustment of facial fascia tone
• Design of cerebral blood flow and CSF circulation restoration program

Integrated Treatment

STEP 03

Integrated Treatment

• Upper cervical Chuna (manual) therapy
• TMJ functional correction
• Myofascial release (trapezius, suboccipital muscles, etc.)
• Linked correction of skull, cervical spine, and TMJ, and nervous system stabilization treatment

Home Care

STEP 04

Relapse Prevention & Home Care

• Education on monitor/phone posture and correction of sleep/pillow height
• Sustained cervical maintenance exercises and TMJ symmetry home care
• Cerebral blood flow improvement routine

FHP Correction = Facial Correction + TMJ Correction + Brain Health

Spine Health

Conclusion: Correcting the head position is about saving the 'face' and the 'brain'.
Your head position determines your face, body, and brain health.
Now is the time to set your head straight.
