A Study on the Body Composition Improvement Effect of Dietary Therapy Concurrently Administered with Wild Ginseng Complex Pharmacopuncture and Herbal Medicine
This study is a retrospective clinical study that analyzed the effect of dietary therapy, combining Mountain Ginseng Complex Pharmacoacupuncture and traditional Korean medicine, on body composition changes in obese patients. 26 adult patients who visited with obesity as their chief complaint underwent treatment for 8 to 12 weeks, and changes in body weight, BMI, body fat mass, visceral fat area, skeletal muscle mass, etc., before and after treatment, were analyzed using objective measurement equipment. As a result, body weight, body fat, and visceral fat significantly decreased, while skeletal muscle mass and skeletal muscle percentage showed a tendency to be maintained or increased, confirming the effect of qualitative improvement in body composition, not just simple weight loss. This study clinically suggests that traditional Korean medicine for obesity treatment can contribute not only to weight reduction but also to healthy weight loss with minimized muscle loss.
