A Study on the Corrective Effect of Facial Asymmetry with Korean Medicine Treatment, Including Temporomandibular Joint Balance Therapy (TBT)
This study statistically analyzed the effects of Korean medicine treatment, including temporomandibular joint balance therapy (TBT), on the correction of facial asymmetry, across 36 clinical cases. Changes in soft tissue and hard tissue were quantitatively evaluated through pre- and post-treatment facial photographs and head X-ray analysis. The results confirmed statistically significant improvement effects in most facial asymmetry indicators. Furthermore, accompanying symptoms such as temporomandibular joint pain, headache, neck and shoulder pain, and bruxism also showed a tendency to improve. This study presents objective data showing that non-surgical Korean medicine treatment can be of practical help in improving facial asymmetry, and is a result that demonstrates the research capabilities of a Korean medicine clinic practicing evidence-based medicine.
