Case Report of 3 Patients with Facial Asymmetry Improved by Korean Medical Treatments such as Cervical Chuna and Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST)

This study is a case report that analyzed the effect of Oriental medicine treatment, centered on cervical Chuna and Functional Craniosacral Therapy (FCST), on the improvement of facial asymmetry. Non-surgical Oriental medicine treatment was administered to three patients who presented with facial asymmetry as their chief complaint, and changes were analyzed using general photographs before and after treatment, head and whole-body radiographic images, and symptom questionnaire evaluations. As a result, both soft tissue and hard tissue asymmetries, including the facial midline, the tilting of the jaw and lips, and mandibular position, all showed improvement, and accompanying symptoms such as temporomandibular joint pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, and postural imbalance also showed a tendency to improve. This study clinically suggests that Oriental medicine treatment, which considers cervical, temporomandibular joint, and whole-body alignment together, can be effective in correcting facial asymmetry.
